Wollongong Granny Flats will be closed from 19 December and will reopen on 12 January.

You’re still welcome to submit an enquiry at any time over the break. Enquiries will be received as normal, and we’ll respond once we return, working through them in order.

If you’ve had the “we could use more space” thought this summer, feel free to send an enquiry through — we’ll follow it up as soon as we’re back.

What Holidays Really Mean on the South Coast

There’s something about summer on the South Coast of New South Wales.

The days stretch longer, the backyard becomes a second living room, and suddenly the house fills up — family visiting from out of town, kids on school holidays, grandparents staying over, friends dropping in, and Cafés stay busy from morning to night.

Across the region — from Wollongong to Kiama, the Illawarra to Ulladulla, and Shellharbour through to the Shoalhaven — summer means packed accommodation, busy towns, and homes working harder than usual.

And for many families, it leads to the same quiet moment of clarity.

You look around and think:

“We could really use more space.”

Why Summer Drives More Granny Flat Enquiries

The holiday period gives people something they don’t usually have: time.

Time to talk about plans. Time to notice what isn’t working. Time to research options they’ve been putting off all year. Time to notice what isn’t working. Time to talk through ideas. Time to finally look into options that have been sitting in the back of your mind.

That’s why enquiries for granny flats often increase over summer. Families feel the squeeze, see how quickly accommodation fills up, and start thinking longer-term about how their home could work better — not just for one season, but for years to come.

Once that idea settles in, it tends to stick.

When the House Is Full, Things Become Clear

South Coast summers bring people together. They also highlight how we live, host, and share space.

For many families, that awareness turns into action.

At Wollongong Granny Flats, we’ve helped thousands of locals turn that summer thought into something practical and lasting — whether it’s for family, guests, or future flexibility.

If that familiar idea comes up again this summer:

“What if we built something out the back?”

You’re not alone. Enquiries keep coming in over summer, and we work through them in order once we’re back — so if you want to get in the queue, send yours through over the break and we’ll follow it up when we reopen in January.
